Well another year is drawing to a close and it’s time to take stock of all I’ve been given.
I’m a simple guy. Like Bill Murray’s character in Ground Hog Day, lots of the same thing over and over. Maybe someday I’ll get it right.
How about I start by quoting Mick Jagger? “You can’t always get what ya want, but you just might find, ya get what ya need.”
I’m really thankful for God running the show and not me. Every day with a breath is a gift. That tends to be forgotten in the little drama of tantrums in the office (or at home), traffic school, and lost car keys. There’s a point to this. Everyday, you’re here for something. I choose to believe the reason is to glorify Him. Somehow. Somewhere. Someway. Some people may disagree yet I’m thankful that I was made a little askew of what most folks would consider “standard thinking.” My perpetual quest for double entendres, quotable quips or really bad puns makes every day an Easter Egg hunt of sorts. And who doesn’t like to live life on a perpetual quest? Or an Easter Egg hunt?
Obligatory shout of thanks for a family of divergence. See, there’s never anyone in the same place, at the same time, doing anything remotely similar. I used to call it crazy, but I’ve been conditioned to call it building memories. Some day I’ll look fondly on my chauffeur days…driving four kids to five different places in three different states, all in a forty five minute window. Thanks for my team at work. They make tough days smooth, and polish my flaws.
I’m thankful I listened to my parent’s and didn’t take a year off after school to develop my standup. As I’m told often at work and home, I’m not as funny as I think I am. At least at work I can sneak in a little dentistry between platitudes of praise and poorly placed puns.
So here’s to wishing all of you a most wonderful Thanksgiving. And here’s to me saying Thank You to all of you. God bless you. And if you’re looking for a great Pediatric Dentist, one that brushes his teeth after a great fried turkey, just click right here.
