Why See Dr. Muncy?

In a word…PREVENTION.

My goal is to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other issues that put the health of your little one’s teeth, gums, and body at risk.

BORING…

I know, I know. We hear it all the time and yet, some of us still don’t do it, don’t want to do it, aren’t interested in doing it. I’m a lousy date at parties because when people ask me what I do they’re immediately on the defensive. “Is he looking at my teeth?”

Look I’m not here to judge, but I am here to PREVENT. And I see a lot of kids on a daily basis and I want those kids to avoid problems and issues with their teeth. So let’s make a plan for the new year and really get after that dental hygiene stuff. And if your little one is new to the dentist, here’s what we like to see. Firm and pink gums, a shiny crown of each tooth, no plaque at the gum line, and a smooth fit between the top and bottom teeth. When we clean teeth, we’re removing the crusty matter we call plaque. It’s the residue of food that didn’t get removed the first time with a tooth brush. And we also look for cavities.

And if we see something that warrants the attention of a specialist, we might refer you to an orthodontist.

After your little one’s teeth are clean, our dental hygienist will polish those teeth. This cleans and smoothes the surfaces of the teeth, removes stains and makes it harder for plaque to stick to their teeth. Boring stuff all of it. But it’s all important stuff. I promise. Happy New Year.
